Although at present the membership benefits are not fully developed, we do have a number of services to offer. We expect the reasons to join will continue expanding for some time. Currently, the primary attractions are camaraderie, enhanced access to FSU information, and the satisfaction of belonging to a club that is active in a variety of endeavors supporting FSU.

We all have derived additional excitement from the helpful and supportive responses we received from the FSU administration. This assistance has ranged from extremely helpful dialogues with Betty Lou Joanos, Jim Melton, and Steve Curvey in the Alumni Association, to encouraging responses from President D'Alemberte. Dr. D'Alemberte emphasized this interest in his 1997 State of the University address: "Even our alumni have used technology for innovation and the recently organized Seminole Internet Club appears to be the first alumni club in the country organized around the internet." We also have the full text of that address online:

Features currently available to members/subscribers consist primarily of web pages with the types of information and web links for which many of us search, but which we have assembled into easily navigable pages. One example of information we have stored, but which we believe is not available on the web elsewhere, is copies of the Alumni Patchwork Newsletter. Further, we currently are in the process of establishing a special member-rate for Osceola-Online subscriptions. This likely will be $25 (compared to the standard rate of $48); we hope to finalize this very soon. We also are in discussions with Osceola Online that may provide special rates for other parts of their service. Our site includes pages that provide listings of links such as 'Most Recent Seminole Sports News':

Our goal is to make the ISC site a warm, inviting, informative, and fun site for all FSU alumni and friends, an internet site of which FSU fans can be proud, and a model for similar clubs from other institutions.

Some of our current features for members include:

  • -Personalized email address (yourname@seminoles.net)
  • -Links to various FSU and ACC sites
  • -A link on the main members page for notification of current/upcoming events (implemented only recently, still not in optimal shape)
  • -A 'members only' ISC message board for discussing all things FSU
  • -Alumni Patchwork Newsletter online
  • -Game reviews
  • -News stories
  • -A Humor page
  • -An Images archive
  • -A Sounds archive
The images and sounds archives are not placed in our member-restricted area - currently we provide this access as more of a service to the FSU community at large. Some of the additional features we plan to provide in the future include:
  • -Space for a small FSU-oriented web page for each member
  • -An ISC Newsletter keeping members informed of club progress ("coming soon")
  • -ISC interviews with key Athletic and Administrative personnel
  • -Articles written by selected individuals analyzing aspects
  • of Academics or Athletics
  • -ISC Chat (includes participation in guest chats)
  • -Copies of all past conversations/interviews with guests who appeared on the ISC Chat.
  • -Promotional items for sale: T-shirts, decals, mugs, etc.
The "ISC Guest Chat" we hope will draw numerous FSU dignitaries, hopefully even Bobby himself. So far, we appear to have strong administration support (see above), so we hope this goal may be attainable. At present, the only tangible benefit to joining at an elevated level is recognition on the ISC website. Currently, the primary motivation to join at higher levels is an individual's desire to help the club and the University. Discussions underway with the Osceola Online may reveal some additional benefits that we might provide as part of elevated-level memberships, though we cannot confirm this yet.
